E3 2010: Kanex iAdapt 51

In my mind, the Kanex iAdapt 51 adaptor cable is one of the coolest cables I own. What it does is connect your Mac computer (post 2009) to an HD t.v. so you can use your Mac in high definition without having to go out and buy a new computer monitor.

I have yet to try it out due to my lack of an HDTV, but I saw it in action at the Kanex booth at E3. It is relatively easy to set up, using a USB connector, mini display port, and an audio out cable, connected to an HDMI converter box. You can set it up in minutes giving you more time to watch your iTunes movies and to play your favorite video games in full hi-def. The only problem that I have with the product is that it does not come with it’s own HDMI cable, so all you people without an extra cable lying around, you’re SOL. Luckily, my Xbox 360 Elite came with one, so the only part of the puzzle that I’m missing is the actual t.v. You can pick one up at the Kanex website here for a reasonable $69.99. Don’t forget about their new product, the Kanex XD, which makes it possible for you to hook up your gaming system to your iMac 27″ to play games in full hi-def, and watch blue ray, all on your iMac. You can pick up the Kanex XD at their website here for $149.99.
