PokeMonday 10-17-2016: Zest In Oktoberfest!
Happy PokeMonday to all you Awesome Gamer’s out there, it is I, your local Buddha Brotha trying to get back on track after a two week hiatus. My sincere apologies, Oktoberfest can be unforgiving. And, in my best Forrest Gump impression, “that’s all I got to say about that.” Now let’s turn away from lagers and pints, and focus more on the larger point: Pokemon and Halloween! So, with a bag full of Pidgey and Rattatta candy, I head off in search of some scary pokemon!
My Poke-Adventures this week took me to Citrus Ranch Park in Irvine. Citrus Ranch is a beautiful hidden gem on Portola Boulevard, tucked away between Jamboree and Tustin Ranch Road, that boasts a fully tended citrus grove, bbq grilles, a children’s play area, and a large open field for sporting events such as soccer. However the major draw at Citrus Ranch is the view. The citrus grove is situated on the sides of a hill, with dirt paths that you can easily navigate towards the top. Waiting at the top is a look-out point, from which you can see all the way to the coast, just barely seeing Catalina Island. This park is fantastic.
In regards to Pokemon, however, I was unable to verify it’s potential as any sort of nest. 🙁 On my first visit to the park, I was fortunate to run into a few Jynx. I was only at the park for half an hour, but during that 30 minute period I saw a trio of the dancing pokemon, so I had high hopes that I had found a nest. On my following visit to the park I encountered a Tauros, a couple of Nidorans, and a healthy amount of the usual pidgeys, rattattas, and ekans, and only one Jynx. Alas, further visits to Citrus Ranch, though a great place to visit, failed to produce any signs of Jynx. I did catch a Clefairy, so alls well that ends well! Oh well, such is PokeTrainer life.
Anyway, that’s all from me this week! I’ll be checking out more parks in the next few days. Until then, stay awesome and happy hunting!
